What do you guys do when you have a scrape on the outer rim of your wheel from either sliding aginst the curb or something that just scraped your rim.

Any suggestions? The scratch doesn't look too bad, but there is scrapage along the outer rim of the wheel.

I don't see how you can sand it down, but you guys know more about this then me.

By the way I hate curbs!

Thanks.

Yup, I've done this. Don't have a solution though, sorry.

That's one of the reasons why my next set of tires will be one plus size bigger to give a bit more 'rubber' protection outside the rim.

I did it to. Scraped my chrome rim with only 4500 miles on my car. At least it's on the passenger side so I don't have to look at it everytime I get in. I don't think you can do anything to repair it, you could put your spare on if it matches. Don't feel too bad, you are not the only one.

I'd check the yellow pages or with your Lexus dealer to see if they recommend someone who fixes wheel scrapes. The same thing happened with my girlfriend's NSX and the dealer recommended a guy who made it look almost like new.

I've got the same problem and need to get some bad scrapes fixed on mine... The Lexus and Acura dealers use the same guy and he comes to the dealer once per week to fix wheels as needed.

Note this is on an alloy wheel - not on chrome. Not sure what he does, but it works.

Yes folks there are shops that repair "Kurb Kisses". If you look in back of some of the car mags, you will find a few national shops where you can ship your rim to be repaired. I found a few local ones in my area to have it done. They weld aluminum to the wheel and then refinish it back to it's original contour. Check your yellow pages, you may have a local shop near you. Definitely try to get references from a reputable rim shop or dealer though.

BTW I'm pleased none of the folks at the last couple of meets could tell the difference.
