I'm only 18 and I have school. My parents have work so I can't really fly out there just to car search. I'm already having trouble convincing them to let me get a GS4, so going out of state is too far.
It's not like I dont like the GS4 (i can always take out the fake trim), but I prefer the black on. I'm okay with any GS4 really. As long as the car isn't yellow, i'm fine

The last thing you want to do is buy something that isn't really what you want just because there's nothing else out there. I think you'll regret it in the long run. I speak from experience. I settled for a 98 that didn't have everything I wanted, and ended up selling it a year later. Luckily, I found a 99 3 months later set up exactly how I would have ordered it from the factory, and I've never looked back. With the 98, I found myself constantly looking at other cars. Just my .02.

e-man could not be more right. I waited over 2 years searching for the right GS400 to come my way that had everything that I wanted on it and I'm so glad I waited. Although it had high miles I had no problem with the price because like I said before it was the one I had been looking for. Color, options, rims. Just be patient.

This dealer is local to me.
Plus:
- year 2000
- black (which I want)
- 103k miles only (relative to 120k+ from private party)
- did i mention black?
Cons:
- more money than the silver gs400
Now my question is, are dealers pretty flexible on negociating the price? The car is priced at $18,499, and trade-in value is about $14,500. What should be a reasonable offer? I'm going to check out the car today
quick question, do the 2000s have HID ?

HIDs were optional on GS400s until 2001 when the became standard on the GS430. Most 99s and 00s do have HIDs, but you need to ask.
Is that trade value based on KBB? The reason I ask is because the price sounds a little high to me. There's nothing wrong with a GS with high miles (and I think 100k+ miles on an 00 would be considered high), but you need to account for it in the price. I see that the car is at a Chevy dealership, and I really can't see a Chevy dealership paying top dollar on a high-mile trade. If the car is set up how you want, I would definitely go in and negotiate hard on this one. I could be wrong, but I would think that they would not be willing to let you get away if you're serious. I bet the car could be had at $16,000. Think about it. If the KBB trade value is $14,500, the dealer probably is into the car for $13,000 (they didn't pay $14,500 for the car -- assuming they paid KBB trade value, they would have deducted the tax trade savings). The more I think about it, the more I believe that $16,000 buys the car (easily). Keep us posted.
