What a day!!!
I took a day off today and wanted to take care of some personal business. At 10am this morning, I tried to start the GS and found out I had a bad battery(4yr old Optima Redtop). I then rushed to the battery shop and got a brand new Optima Red Top. I got back home around 11:30am and had 30minutes to install it before my lunch appoinment.
I hooked it up in a hurry and got this alarm sound and flash headlights all over. What went wrong as I told myself. Took a closer look and *****, I hooked it up with the wrong terminals. I corrected it immediately, but after I hooked up with the battery, when I tried to crank it up, nothing happened. Not even any dash lights. It's totally dead. I then called my dealer right away. They told me the big 120amp fuse might get damaged and I need to replace it to get the car started. I went to the dealer to pick up the Alt 120A fuse for $15 but this is only the begining of the nightmare. The big fuse required to remove the whole fuse assembly from the fuse box since it was bolted down by two big screws. I spent the next 3 hours to try to remove it ftom the black fuse box to access the 2 bolts. At 6pm , I finally got the 120A fuse replaced. But when I try to start the engine, nothing happened, I was totally *****d at this moment.
I then spent the next 2 hours went thru all 40 fuses (engine room, drive side, pass side) and replaced all damaged fuses one by one. Finally I got the car back to work with 10 blown fuses of variable sizes. I pretty much spent the whole day to correct this 30 second error I did in the morning.
Just want to let you know if you are working with battery, make sure you DO NOT even touch the terminal by any mistakes. IT IS A PAIN to deal with it

Wow! What day! Glad to see someone else had a perfect day like I did. You don't even want to touch what I've been through.
Glad to see that the GS will go through a reverse hookup like that with limited issues. Glad to see you're back on the road!

you reversed the the cables? wow. I think you are lucky you didn't fry your ecu or something else.
sorry you spent some time and aggravation, but glad it worked out. I think it could've been much worse.

at least your inclined to know how to check and replace the fuses and what not. I wouldve been completely useless, and likely wouldve spend more paying someone to do it all for me
Glad you got it all fixed though, and sorry you had to go through all of that stress!

Fortunately, you were able to find the blown fuses.
How about getting out of the car too quickly and just totally brain-dead to put it in park....then you got to run your *** off to slam on the brake?
