I agree with everyone that it is a bad idea. The E55 AMG is a classic, I often wonder how many of them there are. I have seen 3 of different colors and it is really sad that they dont even try to hide it better. Actually one was a C55 that was really a C230.

Yes..I can see it now....pull up to the light....someones reving the engine wanting to race you and you get smoked in your rebadged (formerly GS300) GS400. I'm not gonna be ridiculed like that.

So in that context we should all keep our cars stock ?

I don't think an ARISTO badge on a GS is rice. Remember, the 2nd gen GS was sold as an Aristo in Japan. Now someone who badges their car to say they got more than they do is just dumb. Someone like me is gona call their hand every time at the light.

I think the wheel analogy does not work with badging. Two different issues.

To answer the original question, a badge upgrade would be posing. On the other hand, changing over to an Aristo badge is a different case. GS is the Lexus alias for the Toyota Aristo.

Honest mistake...actually the GS4 is a luxurious hot rod!
I say go for the de-badged look-very clean and nice IMO:

The GS is a sport-luxury car. If a GS300 owner adds 20 inch wheels, he isn't trying to hide/change the fact that he owns a 300.

If that same owner changes the badge to a 430, now he's trying to represent something which is false.

I know it's sort of off topic here but I didn't want to burn a new thread with it.

But does an E430 AMG exist? One of those was driving really fast being an *** on the road as well and I was sort of intimidated by his AMG badge. I knew I could take on a E430 but wasn't sure if an E430 AMG existed.

IMO... take it out, like Mattress said it screams "CLASS".

My friend own CLK55 (02)- most people don't believe him until he shows whats under the hood! Before he owned a M3 (98) -even the dealer don't believe on him! - up until they almost stripped the whole car just to prove it that it is a real M3!

A lot of people specially whose is really "IN TO" cars knows what he/she see's and what's "WRONG W/ THE PICTURE"... these badge issues, i guess it all started whith this "type R" thingy!!! even toyotas, or mustangs have their own "typre R" badges-and or even "NISMO"! Sometimes I could'nt afford and honk at these people and ask them "do u really know what a TYPE R means?"

i have a 98' GS400 with its original tail lamps, I thought of replacing it with GS430... but i could'nt because i think everybody who knows a lexus so well would be laughing at my a**!

...better yet change it to black pearl, IMO.

Downgrading may be less harsh than upgrading. It's somewhat like saying you have less $ when you have lots of $ (just to be humble) rather than saying you're loaded when you're broke........kind of stupid example, but you know what I mean

I see too many E55 posers...and don't think it's the younger guys. I see plenty of older guys (50+...) drive around in S55 and E55 posers.
Or either they bought it like that and are totally clueless

What do these driver says when they take their car in for service "Uh, I have an E320 not an E55, so why am I charged this much???"

I agree with the masses, leave it alone or debadge it.

There's no such thing as an E320/420/430 amg....only E55 amg which is more than just a badge and clip on dual exhaust tips.
