Thumbs up

On my 98 GS400 I had to be within about 10 feet of it for the remote to open or lock the doors. Thought there had to be a better solution and then I read a thead a few months ago where some GS owners were able to use their remotes from much greater distances...but no one seemed to know why they were different.

When I was going through the C-best list of settings for my new GS 430 I saw a setting called Car Finder and I had the dealer turn it on along with the double tap setting to open up the trunk.

Well now my remote works from at least 100' away (could be more but I haven't finished testing). And I can open or lock my doors from that distance. Much more convenient.

I've had a GS since '98 and I'm still finding new things it does.

I remember being in my dorm last year and going to the window at the end of the hall on the second story and being able to lock my car in the parking lot accross the street! It was quite far, I was impressed. I wonder if it is programmable for the RX. I know our LS doesn't have the range my RX does.

Marty, you've alreay had your window tinted! Wow, you work quick:eek:

Francis,

So did I on the GS 400. But, the car finder option extended it as I said. Don't know if the LX has this option, just like the GS doesn't have some of the options the other models have. Check with your dealer.

LEXRX,

Got the tint yesterday morning. You gotta remember I've been waiting for months to get started. Found a shop on Buford highway (K&L - they also have a shop on JCB) that did the job for $160 and 3 guys did the whole car in 1 hour.

BananaGS,
As far as I know this is a dealer set-up only. You need the right computer cable and sw.

I know that this is an EXTREMELY OLD THREAD but... it's exactly what I was looking for. I was looking into getting a spare key and I keep reading about the "car finder" feature. Has anyone gone to the dealership and had this done recently?

LOL nvm. I think the car finder feature is already on because I can lock/unlock from across the parking lot no problem.
