Default Question re: moonroof drainage tubes

I did a search, but couldn't find what I was looking for. On my 98, I recall the moonroof drainage tubes protruding too low into the rear wheel wells. To fix the problem, I pulled them out completely, attached a rubberband to the tube about 2 feet up, stuck them back down well into the wheel well, attached another rubberband at the very edge of the tube, pulled the tube back up until I hit the rubberband at the edge of the tube, and then slid the rubberband that I first put on 2 feet up the tube all the way down to secure the tube in position. Anyway, that was then, this is now.

This morning, I wanted to do the same thing to my 99. However, when I went into the trunk, I noticed that I could not force the tubes into the wheel wells. It's as if they are being blocked by the black wheel well cover. Was there a design change from 98 to 99? Shouldn't there still be a hole in the wheel well cover to allow the drainage tube to protrude down into the wheel well? Does anyone have a picture of this?

mine come through the trunk and out the bottom. I raised mine a little and zip tied them into place because at high speed(100mph ish ) the vent tube would blow around and make noise.

Hey Chuck. I went back into the trunk last night to check it out because it just didn't make sense. As it turns out, what's preventing the tubes from extending down further is not something blocking the tubes in the hole, but rather, there's no slack in the tubes from above. I didn't want to create any slack by pulling on them, so I just put a rubberband around the bottom of each tube about 1 inch up, reinserted them into the holes, and left well enough alone. I remember that with my 98 there was definitely slack in the tubes. I could insert them several inches into the wheel well if I wanted to.

Let me ask you this, when you pull the tubes out, can you see down through the hole into the wheel well and to the ground? Also, where exactly in the wheel well do the tubes come through? I don't see any holes for them to protrude through.

Thanks Chuck. I was definitely looking in the wrong place underneath the car. I thought the tubes exited the bottom in the wheel well. From that last picture, it looks like it comes out from behind the rear wheel, kind of under the bumper. Am I seeing that right? I'll go outside and check.

EDIT -- Chuck, you've probably heard this before, but you are absolutely the man. I just went outside and my tubes are protruding out through the holes on the bottom about an inch. You're gonna think I'm nuts, but I am almost positive that the drainage tubes on my 98 didn't come out in that area. I could be wrong, but I thought the tubes exited out into the wheel well area somewhere on that car. Anyway, it's all good now. Thanks again.
