Default Booming noise from ride

Hey guys,

I recently traded my 99GS3 for a 99GS4 and there is something that really bothers me about this car. It’s the ride quality. It is actually pretty smooth, but when going through bumps and pot holes it sounds like I am riding on dead shocks.

All suspension parts are stock with an exception of Bilstein shocks that were replaced 6 months ago.
I took the car to my mechanic who said that everything looked fine but recommended to replace lower ball joints. We did replaced that ball joints but that booming noise from going over bumps did not go away.

Any advice is much appreciated.

82K miles. Do you think it is not the shocks?

Are the tires stock? what condition are they? Any idea what the tread rating is? (hard compound/soft? What PSI?

If your shocks were replaced 6 months ago I wouldn't be looking there.... that is unless there is loose bolt, but that would probably be a clunk and not a boom.

Boom sounds like worn tires to me.

The tires (Toyo Proxy) are in pretty good shape. The sound that I am hearing is not clunking but rather the sound of worn out shocks. My Bilstein shocks are almost new and are not leaking.

I heard that Bilstein shocks are usually used with lowering springs which my car does not have and maybe that's the problem.
