pulley lube?
I got some squeeking from the serpentine belt area with and without the AC on. I want to try lubricating the pulleys and the belt as the car only has 42k miles on it. If that does not help then I will replace the belt. What do you guys recommend?

I dont' think that's possible. You can try belt dressing, but that usually just makes a mess. I don't think there is a lube for the pulleys on any car. (just my opinion, and I've been wrong before, just ask my wife! )

Thanks for the replies. I inspected the belt and it is in excellent condition. So I squirted a little WD40 and havent heard the very slight whistle noise... I guess it was a little dry.

DO NOT PUT LUBE ON THE BELT!!! It will make the belt squeal like a mo'fer . If as in lube you mean lubricant....something that will make it slip. The squeal sound is the belt SLIPPING on the pulleys. There are also other cases where the belt is slipping so much due to the lube that you dont even heard it anymore, but in fact the pulley is burning the belt up(kind of like pulley doing peelouts on the belt)! That is the worst case scenario that you want to avoid at all costs. So in short, dont put lube on the belt.
To stop the noise you want the belt to stop slipping. In this case you want something that can increse the friction, not reduce it. There are two ways to do this. First and easiest is to get some belt dressing. It should have some compound in it to make the belt stickier to stop the squeal. Second and more time consuming is to make the belt tighter by using the belt tensioner.

I had belts squealing problems every winter. I believe the problem is grease on the pulleys. I even had belts replaced and the tensioner puller replaced at the dealer, and still had a slight squeal during warm up in the cold. I found the solution to putting a end to the squeal.. I used this product and sprayed it on the belt and all the pulleys. No more squeal . http://www.crcindustries.com.au/cata...r?openDocument I bought it at Pepboys for 5 bucks. They should have it at any autoparts outlet.
