The GS name

Hello Lexus owners! I am doing some research on the Lexus GS lineup, and I have been trying to find out what the 'GS' stands for in the GS300/GS400/GS430 cars.
I know the ES originally stood for Executive Sedan, LS for Luxury Sedan, SC for Sport Coupe, buy GS? If I am not mistaken, Guigario had something to do with the design of the original GS300 - could that have something to do with the GS name?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Chris

I would doubt Guigaro Sedan. His original design study was called the Kensington and was his interpretation of what (he hoped) the next Jaguar 4 dr would look like. Jag didn't bite, Toyota did, but Lexus has not had a tradition of incorporating personal names into their vehicles, eg, no Supra-san.

Back in the old days of Japan, 4-doors never competed with the 2 doors, Japanese companys made alot of the 2-door and 4 door models of the same make. Which was real cool! It was the same car but you could buy it in 2-door or 4 door. Can you imagine a 2 door GS? Back in the days (In Japan) of Illigal street drag races if you had a fast 4-door, you would stand out, everyone would know you.
