Default Anybody know anything about this car?

Hey guys i'm a newbie here and am interested in this car up in Chicago. Wondering what you guys can tell me about it??

What is the ride quality with the L-tuned suspension? Is the work done to the car the right / good things to do?

Car looks great man. The L-Tuned is an awesome setup that will be closest to stock but still a great upgrade. Has the HID's and Nav - great color I'd rock it.

Looks like a nice car, but overpriced at 19k+. The L-tuned springs / shocks / exhaust are nice pieces to have on the car and it looks clean. BUT they don't add value to a used car for most buyers.

There are a number of discrepancies and outright lies in the description,so beware...

CHICAGO MOTOR CARS IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE YET ANOTHER HOT LUXURY SEDAN FROM OUR FINE LINE OF HAND PICKED SEDANS. YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY OWN THIS 1999 LEXUS GS400 IN ALPINE SILVER METALLIC. THIS IS NOT YOUR ORDINARY GS400. WHEN DOES A LEXUS HANDLE LIKE A CORVETTE, WHEN ITS L-TUNED. THIS LEXUS COMES WITH MANY L-TUNED PERFORMANCE PARTS FROM LEXUS'S PERFORMANCE DIVISION. ALL THESE PARTS WERE ALSO INSTALLED BY A LEXUS NEW CAR DEALERSHIP. PEFORMANCE PARTS SUCH AS L-TUNED LOWERING SPRINGS GIVES THIS SEDAN ADDED HANDLING AND A VERY NICE STANCE. A L-TUNED FRONT STRUT TOWER BRACE REDUCES BODY ROLL, L-TUNED STRUTS FOR UPGRADED HANDLING, L-TUNED PERFORMANCE EXHAUST FOR ADDED HORSEPOWER GAINS AS WELL AS A NICE RUMBLING SOUND THAT YOU WON'T HEAR FROM ANY OTHER CAR EXISTING TWO CHROME TIPS, AND A K&N PERFORMANCE INTAKE SYSTEM. THESE ARE THE FEATURES THAT MAKE THIS LEXUS AN ABSOLUTE JOY TO DRIVE AND MAKE IT LOOK LIKE NO OTHER GS. THE TINTED WINDOWS GIVE THIS CAR ABSOLUTE PRIVACY AND KEEP THE INTERIOR COOL. WITH THE ADDED PERFORMANCE UPGRADES, THIS FACTORY 300 HORSEPOWER CAR MAKES CLOSER TO 320 HORSEPOWER. OTHER FACTORY UPGRADES INCLUDE XENONS LIGHTS, NAVIGATION, ONE/TOUCH WINDOW AND SUNROOF, FACTORY CHROME 17" WHEELS, HEATED SEATS, DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL, 6 DISC CHANGER AND TAPE, ALL POWER OPTIONS, TRACTION CONTROL WITH "SNOW-MODE". THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION FROM LEXUS THAT WAS AVAILABLE. DON'T MISS OUT ON A CHANCE TO OWN A CAR THAT DRIVES LIKE A WORLD RENOWNED LEXUS AND HANDLES LIKE A "M" OR "AMG" CAR. THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS MAKES THIS CAR VERY DESIREABLE. LEXUS TOP-NOTCH CRAFTMANSHIP AND PERFECTION!!!
There is no such thing as an L-tuned Strut tower brace.... there are other brands including a TRD made by Toyota (like L-tuned was) but not an L-tuned one.

The intake and exhaust aren't likely to add 20 HP (The Ltuned exhaust at most will at give you 2 HP to the car) .

They list a 'bose' system in the description. Lexus doesn't offer one of those, and the 'upgrade' Nakamichi during 1999 is not available in combination with the Navigation which this car supposedely has. There are not 12 speakers.

SUmmary - it DOES LOOK like a very nice car, just the typical sales stuff is overblown and overstated. Negotiated with them....

Typical GS problems you should be aware of (most consider these minor)
Moisture in Healights
Low/rough Idle Issue
Door Actuator Problems
Dash Rattle
Sunroof Rattle
Vibration at Highway Speed

Dave hit it right on the nose, I was laughing when I read all the performance mods make it 320 hp. Its just a dealer doing what they have to in order to sale cars and thats blowing everything up to look more catching to the eye of the buyer. Its actually a little over priced so chop them down before you buy. Like Dave said between K&N intake and l-tuned exhaust your probably looking at a real 5-8 hp gain. But it will sound really nice like they said in the add

Dave,

You are the man! One of the most helpful guys on Clublexus. I believe that most used car salesmen do overstate their internet ads, but I also believe that since they sell so many makes and models, MOST don't take the time to actually learn about the features of each car they post and sell. It seems as though they're too lazy to care. It aggrevates me that I know more about a car I'm looking at than the saleman telling me about it... I respect a salesman who knows every single detail of what he sells.

Indigo, if you can bring them down quite a bit, I'd grab it!

It looks like it used to have a front lip attached. Maybe the tte, or other brand. You can tell by the fitment markings on the front bumper on the bottom.

thanks

So how overpriced is it? Should I go in with 18k or even less then that?

and it might be worth going up there to just look at that supra.

I think the car looks real nice. The L-tuned will not make it handle like a Corvette or add 20HP but they are really nice features. You should go take a close look at it and if it just feels right then offer them like 15K to start and work it from there. Good luck. If you do end up buying it, come back to CL with pictures.

Look at the bottom of the drivers door and passenger door. The trim is coming off, also the seats look well worn as well as the center console. Use this to your advantage when u negotiate a price. Car does look nice, but at that price it needs to be perfect.
