Question

Alright guys. I'm going to be part of this group buy on the Borlas, BTW, we're looking for one more, read about it here:

https://www.clublexus.com/vb/showthr...threadid=18504

Would you trust your GS to a Midas, Miekie, Gemini, or other national garage chain to install them?

Anyways, I can't imagine it would take a performance shop to install the mufflers, so, who would you let do it?

Thanks In Advance

Wow Joe, you really shed a lot of light on the subject.

OK, I guess I should have asked:

What does it take to install borlas?

I always thought that mufflers required welding of some sort. Not to mention, it was already posted that local muffler shop could do it for less than $50.

$50, at least to me, is well worth it, as far as cost and time spent, to have a professional, or at least someone who does it for a living, do it.

This is true for several services as a matter of fact.

BUT, if its a case of just bolting them on, I guess I could manage it myself in an afternoon.

Please bestow upon me and others what tools, accessories, and materials are required.

I'm sure others in the group buy would be interested.

I'm heading to the archives now.

dont bother, you know i'm always on the forum! hahaha

well heres your answer, you should get new gaskets from lexus if borla doesn't supply them (i doubt they do) but they are not neccesarry, you can use the stock mounting rings since the borla stuff was designed around the lexus. all it is 2 pipes with mufflers and tips on them, just un bolt the stock one when the car is cool and take off the o-rings then put the borla on, rings first then bolt it, good luck man,

I guess its all about asking the right question; oh yeah, and looking in the archives.

Cool; that's exactly the info I was looking for.

Gracias

You don't need welding for Borla. It fits pretty well. You can definitely spend a nice afternoon installing those eahausts. Spend some time with your loved one, I mean your GS that is.

Just a hint of advice for anyone who is going to "Do it Yourself"!!!!..

Don't try to unscrew the nuts that are attached to the stock muffler....you have to unscrew the bolt itself....the four nuts (2 to each muffler) are welded to the stock muffler peices

here is a picture i made to help you!

Hi guys,
For some of you guys who do not want to hear the SWEET RUMBLLLLLE of the pipes you can get free venturies from borla, I got mine but never used them.

I'm like 98% sure that the Greddy's are also a direct bolt on like the Borlas.....if they are than the diagram that i made also applies to you!

(The reason why i am 98% and not 100% is because someone could have a universal exhaust welded on with some custom piping)

Take a look underneath your car and see if you see those to big rings with the nuts and bolts in them...they should be in the center between your 2 back wheels.

You're probably going to have to heat up the bolts to take them out...that's what my mechanic did to put my tips on.
