Unhappy MAF sensor gasket for 2000 gs400

need some help guys.. (mods if you could leave this here for a little id really appretiate it) i need a MAF sensor gasket for a gs400, my friend bought my car and apaprently it stalls real bad without this gasket (according to lexus) and they do not make the gasket AT ALL anymore (once again according to lexus) so im either stuck finding a junked GS400 or making one somehow.. i need to get teh car inspected by the end of this month but its sitting at the lexus dealership accuring a $5/ day rental fee (rx330) and tis already been 10 days. here is the link that pretty much repeats what i jsut said
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=194586

ANY help would be appretiated.. and if i physically have to go to a junkyard and its out of state of course id pay someone to do all this for me! thanks again!

good idea. can you buy a blank sheet of gasket material somewhere and cut one out?

I would also contact Darrel Diller and make sure he can't get you a gasket.

TLW,

apparently like a week after i sold it to my good friend it started doing this.. i drove the car around maybe 10-15 times with the stock intake and never had problems with it.. what kind of luck is that huh, i rather it happen to me so he doesnt think i sold him a lemon!

i PMed morris and he said the same thing u said chukb.. just go to a shop and they can easily make one for u. lexus is suppose to call me back and give me a price on how much it would be to make one.. id like to see what silly a$$ number they give me.. prob 50-100 to make a gasket hehe. thanks again guys.. and i still troll here a million times a day even after i sold the GS hehe.. i have a 92 civic in its place.. not the same build quality let me tell ya

I actually got an email from Darrel this morning after trying to order the same part for my 98 GS4, and this is an excert from his email...

"As for the MAF sensor gasket, I can only say there isn't one. In
essence, there is not a gasket between the mass air flow meter and the
air box."

Someone in a previous most of mine regarding this matter suggested using that white plumbing tape, which may be the route I'll have to go at this point.

the impression that I got from him was that they never made one, which is strange...others here claim to have one, or atleast transferred the ones from their stock intakes boxes to the aftermarket ones. I unfortunately dont have the stock box, as the people that installed my intake somehow broke the stock one and threw it away ....so Im without the gasket/o-ring.

Mine doesnt stall, but the engine occassionally pings when the MAF sensor gets thrown off because too much air is seeping in.

on mine (GS300) there's a rubber gasket on it.
I'm sure you can try silicone to seal it up. And if you ever need to take it off, it should just rip right off.

I'll do it later if Johnny doesn't want too. I owe Johnny a few manual scans anyway and now I have my own service manuals. (and now I realize how hard it is to find some of the stuff in them )
