GS400 audio upgrade on the way
Currently have the Nak premium system but not for long. For the headunit I jumped on the bandwagon and got the Eclipse AVN5435 for mp3, navigation and dvd playback capabilities. For the amp, I went with a JL Audio e6450. This is a 6 channel amp which will power the whole system. As much as I want to get all the speakers replaced, I just can't at the moment. The headunit and amp is already setting me back almost $2000. So for the time being I'll be using the crappy nak speakers for awhile I'll try to take it easy on them so they won't blow out. But my plans for those are 5.25" or 6.5" components up front, 6.5" coaxials for the rear and a 10" Infinity sub for free air use. Not too sure about what brands to go with for the components but I'll do my research when I'm ready to replace them.

Based on input from other ClubLexus.com members and customer reviews of the speakers on Crutchfield.com, I decided to purchase Polk Audio DB6500 component speakers for the front and Polk Audio DB650 coaxials for the rear. Both are 6½" and will fit with custom made baffles. These will be powered from a 400w 4 channel amp I already have. The Polk Audio speakers were $99 for the DB6500 components and $49 for the DB650 coaxials. Not too much for my budget for that kind of performance even though shipping cost me about $20 for each pair. Get the info on these models at Crutchfield including a manual download and read comments from customers who bought each model. I bought mine from ebay. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure the amp i'm getting will allow this. I will run the front and rear with hi-pass to filter out most the low bass and use lo-pass for the sub. I'm hoping the amp allows me to adjust the cut off point of the crossovers so I can dail in the exact amout of bass for the front and rears.

my experience with upgrading the audio...
Sounds like you have a great setup in the works. I'm sure it will sound fantastic.
One thing I would suggest since you'll be tearing off door panels soon is that you run aftermarket speaker wire to your cabin speakers. I know it's a pain in the tush to rewire the cabin with larger guage wire but it's definitely worth it.
My setup consists of a 800x4 Rockford Fosgate amp and a 100.2 old school Rockford Fosgate amp. The 800x4 runs the front two doors and the two 10"s in the trunk and you would think that throwing 200 wrms to each corner in the front and 50 wrms to each door in the rear (100.2) would help the naks really sing but they don't. I suspect the wattage is being bottle-necked with the thin factory wires and a rewiring of the cabin is necessary to really take full advantage of the speakers.
I'll have that rewiring job done soon.
Good luck.
