Neo, you think that's all there are in the whole US is just over 3 dozen sets of these? I'm pretty sure the GS group is the largest within ClubLexus maybe as much as half of the total participants. The tails look great. Interesting to see that they come shipped in a Toyota box with the JP tape on the outside. Reinforces the presumption that they start the process of manufacturing these jewels with original parts and go from there. As an aside, I had my JP spoiler installed today at the body shop. I took their advice and used double stick tape rather than the cyanoacrylate adhesive that JP provided. Looks great, if the sun is out tomorrow I'll get some pics to post.

 

There are always ways to get the tails direct in Japan. With that aside, I've talked (not recently though) to the previous and current JP distributors and there were no indications that orders for these items were coming in large quantities. There are also people who mod their cars outside of CL but I'd like to think we have a lot of the "cream" here. This is why I over counted the CL numbers and doubled it.

It takes a dedicated person to spend that much on a set of tail lights. Believe it or not, there was once a time when I thought it was silly to spend $300 on a set of tail lights just to have it look more up to date (01+ tails). Not only did I bought them later but the JPs are also under consideration. At the time, it was not about $ but about sensibilities. Modding and being on CL skews that part of your brain to think it is OK.

Anyway, realistically, I think there is a small percentage of all Lexus owners who mod their cars. The number goes down further when you filter out people who are REALLY willing to spend $ on their car. Then, out of these, the number who will spend $1300 on tail lights (vs getting coilovers, suspension, ICE, engine work including FI, kits, and/or wheels and so on) gets even smaller.

I just pull the number out of my you know where but it is just my take on it. Who knows how many are really out there.

 

I disagree - they are only - not exclusive on CL - that's it.

In real life, on the street, in your city or even state - they are super exclusive!

 

I agree, Maybe only in cally there are a couple sets but if you look around the rest of the states theres probably only one in every other state if any..

Does anyone fell like breaking it down and counting how many we know about?

seriously i think right now there are maybe around 10 people with jp taillights. it's not exclusive anymore but still ok i guess.

 

I disagree - it is still very exclusive. Not counting your car, when was the last time you saw a GS with those lights?

The last time I saw a GS with those taillights was at LexFest 05 on DaveGS4's car.

 

LOL, guys. It was a joke. The JPs are still very exclusive. Yes, we've seen a few more recently but it is nowhere close to being seen on cars all over. I had to move from NorCal, though, so I won't be near Henry. Can't have 2 JP tails so close to eachother. Now, I just need to save up for them.

 

I went from thinking the 98-00 tails were fine to deciding to update to 01+ tails... then I considered the JP tails- not a lot of money, relative to the other $ I have spent on my GS in the last 90 days.

But then I get shocked back to reality; I'm going to smoke/tint the tails anyway, so why spend the money on the JPs?

hehehe i guess my joke didn't fly easy there tiger. i still think the jp taillights are exclusive especially in this HUGE gs crowd. but i think with the help of johnny and a few people, it's not really impossible to get items anymore

oh and aside from my car? in socal i used to see kyle4381 with this, and in norcal junction gs' car and gsintensive i guess i am in cali after all, hahhaaa
