when i turn on my headlight, the speedometer light is 'switch on', but the light is pretty weak.
i did turn the lighting **** to the max, and it is still weak.
does anyone has this problem?
when i turn off the headlight, the 'standard' speedometer light is pretty 'bright'.
is there any easy way to replace the light bulb or something?
thks,

I asked this same question some time back. I wish mine could be brighter as well. The only answers I got was a link to some sort of "angel eyes" retro-fit thing that works on the dash lights. I would imagine there is someway to put a brighter lamp in there
.

I have this same problem with my '98 GS400 but it's a sometimes thing, sometimes the dash glows nice and bright and sometimes it's dull. Of course it's always bright when the tech checks it, go figure.

Lexus dealer can help you out. You can change settings the way you want, but you'll have to pay ( i don't know how much)
One of Toyota/Lexus tools is required in order to make any changes, it also must be reported to Lexus nationwide data base.
There is no other way ( i know) you can fix it, reason why- dashlight is monitored and adjusted thru sensors and on-board comp. to actual weather conditions

I don't question what is ok or wrong with your dashlight day or/and night, see your local dealer you'll be more educated

"Yeah, the same thing happens with my 99'GS400. If you notice, it does get lighter and darker with the outside surroundings like GSXLEX said. Noticed it when I went under a bridge on a sunny day and it got brighter as I was under it and turned kinda dull once I came out in the sun. Other than that, I think Im still in the same bout as the rest of us"

thats because the dash has an ambient light type of feature, it adjusts on its own, sometimes it will be bright and sometimes itll be dull.

I got a 95 gs, and i have a similar problem as to you guys.
MY tachometer gauge, its usually a bright solid color, but every now and then (Everyother day) this gauge will have blank spots where the light doesnt shine. Picture a 1/8th inch by 3 1/2 inch tachometer arrow and only 3/4 of it is lit up. There is a stupid blank spot in the middle about 3/4 inch long where its not litt up. Any ideas??
