1 centimeter in tread width (10mm), and a .4 centimeter in sidewall height (40% of 10mm).

If you don't understand tire numbers/letters, suggest you read the good background info on tirerack.com

Default vibration

Most dealerships will fix your TSB without complaint or charge but things are a little different at Lexus of Manhattan, don't get me started! I also forgot to mention that the steering TSB is only for GS400 built until some time in 1998.

WTF kind of signature is that? LOL! That was pretty funny. Thanks for the biological make up diagram of the breast!

hahhahah that is one of the funniest sig that I ever seen on here.

Also, Bay Ridge lexus isn't a stroll in the park either . If Manhatten + Brooklyn Lexus's are bad , where else is there to go

Why didn't you ask that the first time then?

235/40-18 is closest to stock 17 diameter. 245/40-18, being a bit bigger will fill the wheel well better - mainly a looks thing. You'll need 8.5 rims for 245's though.

I'm no expert, but I've read that 8.5 is preferable for 245s.

245's are little bit wide for a 8" wide wheel. They will fit, but your sidewall will be a little bit bubbled. A 225 or 235 is a better fit. Most 235's are even recommended to be used a 8.5" wide wheel...

Don't overdo it with your tire sizes...make sure to put the RIGHT size tire for your wheel...otherwise, you'll get bad performance and you may even damage your tire (which can lead you damaging your wheel or car or even you.) If you want a wide tire, buy wider wheels.

Bit: HRE's? What style would you do?

I wonder how many people who hastily bought wheels have regreted it? I know for me, I already knew about all the manufacturers and their quality but it was a matter of picking the style that would best fit the car...then it took MONTHS for mine to get built! Heheheh...but it was definitely worth waiting for... I would only get another set of wheels if I struck a good sponsorship deal with another high quality manufacturer....

Hey guys,

I got the explanation for the vibration problems. The cause of this problem is road force distribution. By some reason GS is very sensitive to it. One way to try eliminate it is to balance your wheels at the shop, which has Hunter balancer, but that doesn't guarantee the complete elimination of this problem, it helped me to some degree. This problem is worse if you use low prifile tires. Hope this helps.

ABB, can you elaborate what is a Hunter Balancer? I heard of that mentioned before by someone at a shop but I didn't know how that specific machine is better than a generic one.

Thanks.

Diesel,

Hunter GSP-9700 is top of line wheel balance machine which can perform load balancing on your wheel/tire. It can detect weight unbalance down to 0.1 gm which is more than enough for a 30lb wheel. Go to www.hunter.com and find out the nearest dealer in your area.

ABB, thanks for the helpful info, but is there anything else that can be done about this. Even the factory 17" wheels and tires, I guess you would consider them low profile. This isn't even an aftermarket issue, this is a stock issue. I would assume the stock 16" wheel package would be much better, but they just look too small and not as good as the 17's.

Maybe L-tuned components is the way to go?
