If you are buying rims from a bad area, ghetto or something, the chances are you are buying either stealing ones or fake ones. One time my friend bought his 18 AC Schnitzer type III rims from Mexico. (I have no idea how he found this deal). The deal was good, except one of the rims is faked. I knew the deal sounded too good to be true.

I'm sure you're looking for the physical differences in the real LD1's and knock-offs, I'll leave that to the wheel experts, but the easiest way to ensure you're getting the real wheel is to buy it from a reputable company.

For real LD1's in chrome, you'll see the chrome is "deeper" in color. All LD1's in chrome comes tripled chromed BTW. Also check the bolts, you can tell if its a fake bolt or not.
