Question Can't get garage door opener on 430 to work

I installed a new Genie garage door opener today and for reasons unknown, I can't get the car's home-link to work. I was able to successfully re-program the home link on my wife's es300 but a no go on my 430. Btw, the home link on my 430 worked fine on the old garage door opener. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is there a button on the garage door opener itself that you have to push? On our craftsman, you had to push a button the the unit and it blinked for about 30 seconds. Within that timeframe, you have to go down to the car and hold the homelink button down for about 10 seconds until it stops blining quickly.

It does and that's how I got my wife's es300 to work. Did the exact same thing with the GS but no luck.

I was going to suggest the same thing.

Did you try resetting your home link system before you tried to load the new code? I believe you have to press and hold the leftmost and rightmost buttons simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds to reset the system. I had to do this to mine before it would accept the new code from the new garage door opener (the kind with the rolling or rotating code).

Here is a link to the instructions... Homelink Training...
You'll have to clear your existing code, then go through the process. If your new opener is a rolling code there are additional steps listed to follow.

Default New Genie

Your new garage door opener has a rolling code. In your GS' owner's manual they provide they extra steps for programming rolling code garage door openers. You indeed have to push the button on the actual opener (not remote) and within 30 seconds, jump in your car and program your home link location.

If you still have problems or can't find it in you manual, shoot me a PM or email.

hey Rheiy-some people may tell you it's not rocket science..........but I disagree

I had a heck of a time getting mine to program. I don't even know what I did to make it work, but it works so I'm happy. thankfully once it's programmed, it will stay even if the battery is disconnected.

Thanks guys...This morning, I re-read all the instructions and tried it again and it now works. Basically, I was following all the instructions. I figure where I was going wrong was in the last step to set rolling codes. Originally, I think I was pressing and releasing the button too soon. This time, after hitting the learn button on the opener, I held the car's button for a 2 second count, release, button, press again for 2 seconds, release, and press a 3rd time for 2 seconds and my door shut All I can say is that its easier to install the garage door opener than it is to program it..

Glad you liked it. I brought my laptop out in the garage and pulled up that site to link mine. The dealer gave me a phone number to call also. He said the owners manual instructions were... uhh.. not that great. I was going to call the number, but I figured I'd Google it first and there ya go.

alright, this homelink thing is getting on my nerves. I just got a new garage opener and it DOES NOT have the rolling code feature. I tried it myself a million times, I took it to Lexus twice, and still no luck.

It's only three buttons, how hard can this be!?
