Question

Just ordered an Passport 8500 for the GS400(I learned fast that I needed one). I want to hard wire so it comes on with ignition. Where do you suggest wiring into? Also, where did you mount? I thought near the rear view mirror but I do not think space allows, nor do I know what those little dots in the windshield are in front of the mirror.

Default

I mounted mine about a 1/2" to the left of the rear view mirror, with the suction cups up in the shaded part of the windshield. This leaves the line of sight just below the shaded area. I ordered the direct wire and tucked it in between the w/s and head liner, than down the drivers side to the fuse box by your left foot . The lighter fuse is in the forward row of fuses and is identified on the backside of the fuse box cover. I gounded it to a bolt that was above and aft of the fuse box. There is a fuse puller in the fuse box under the hood on the pass. side. I mounted the remote on the dash with velcro up against the w/s post. You can see the remote easily but it is tucked out of the way. The instructions I got suggested using a popsycle stick to tuck the wires in, this worked real good.
