Its been about a week since I posted about the GS430 Spoiler problem. The Dealer has had my car since last Monday. But when I went to pick my car up the Spoiler bounced for a few seconds after I closed the trunk:eek: I had the Dealer open and close the trunk of another GS430 and the Spoiler did not shake when the trunk was closed. The only good news is finally after three tries at painting the Spoiler the paint looked okay. The Service Manager mentioned to me by phone on Friday that he wanted to keep my car tell Saturday to tighten the Spoiler. Just my luck the Service Manager was not able to look at it on Saturday because they said he was called away on an Emergency. So the regular service advisor must have thought it was okay to give my car back like this! Will call on Monday to see if they fixed it right!. Could my dealer have damaged the fittings on the trunk? Since they painted my Spoiler the first time at a place called Super Paint (not dealer) the Spoiler has been shaking when the trunk is closed. They told me they even ordered a New Spoiler with fittings. Why would they have such trouble with getting it on securely?

you sure they have a real factory spoiler or some imitation spoiler that not strong and shave when you close the trunk, if the bolts are secure, you spoiler should not move at all

The service Manager told me they replaced it with a Lexus factory Spoiler. But he also told me they painted the second Spoiler at the factory but later said he was mistaken and it was actually painted at a local Toyota body shop! Since I had a bad run in with one of the sales managers maybe they switched it and put the factory one on another car they were trying to sell. It is starting to feel like when you complain about your food at a restaurant and they replace the food with something even nastier which causes you to get sick a few hours later!. Something at County Line Lexus doesn't smell right! Will see what happens on Monday.

this is how my bodyshop secured my spoiler. It's not really noticeable, but it makes me feel secured that it's not gonna fly off!

Globe CLK-
Nice picture quality. What kind of Digital camera are you using? I would like to get one to supplement my 35mm,
and do not want to spend $1G for a camera. Recommendation?

I can't really figure out what we're looking at there - the inside of your trunk lid? Does your spoiler REALLY hang over the side of the car that much!? I guess that's an aftermarket spoiler!? I don't like those screws/rivets either - sorry, but you're right, it shouldn't ever come off.

Sorry to hear about all this hassle you are going through. There is one other thing you should check, check the miles on your car while it has been at the dealership.

This will tell you 2 things, if they are driving it elsewhere to get it fixed. I am also paranoid, so I found that sometimes when they keep your cars, especially a GS430 fully loaded, they may take it out for rides, etc.. This drives me crazy. I once found an unknown address entered into my NAV system when I picked up the car. That freaked me out.

Check it out.

I looked at my factory spoiler to see if there was something I could identify to help you check.

First off, the under the spoiler by the light it says 'Toyota' (a big clue! )

Second, I *still* can't figure out HOW they attach to spoiler to the car as there are no signs, no visible screws, nothing at all.

Here's a couple of pictures:

Hey Bit,

In your first picture, there is that little wing tip looking platic piece that does not seem to belong to be attached to the rest of the wing. Well, it doesn't. That piece is taped and velcroed on. If you take that wing tip thing off, you will be able to gain access to the screws that holds your spoiler to the trunk. If you don't have to take that wing tip off, Don't! I have tried to tighten my spoiler the other day and I noticed that once you take that wing tip off, the adhesive tapes sort of lose its strength a little.

I will check my spoiler to make sure that it is a factory spoiler because I paid $1200 for that sucker! I know I know...........
