Default Thinking of Selling my GS

I have a 2000 GS400 platinum series, White on Ivory, 69000 miles. Really clean and well maintained. Front bumper cover was repainted due to a parking lot scuff (my wife *****ed up the lower nose on a high parking spot stop). It has been used really as a toy the past three years after I had a stereo installed for IASCA competition (It has only been to one event - 2002 IASCA Finals, took third after only 8 hours of tuning). Thinking of selling it as I want to buy a true toy - two seat sports car - probably a NSX or a 911. What can I expect to get for it with and without the stereo? Cost to duplicate the stereo is approximately $15,000.00. I do have all of the original stereo parts.

Have any pics? I would honestly remove the stereo and go back to stock and sell it that way. I think it will be easier and you will get more money for it. Not sure about an estimate though

Probably without stereo I'd say between 19-21k.. With stereo not really sure... maybe 25k with stereo.. Like Rich said I think you will sell it faster if the stereo was out.. Good Luck with the sale...

no way the stereo would raise the price that much, unless you were sellin it to someone who knew what they were buying (most won't)

return it stock, best bang for the buck and part out your stereo.

Remove the stero and sell it here. The car will probably sell better without the sound system. People think that if you have anything done to the car.

Wow $15k on the stereo alone....... as others have said, your best bet is to return it back to stock, and sell the stereo seperately.

Thanks for the information guys. I really don't know if I want to yank out the system though. As for the stereo, most of the $15000 was spent in equipment - IASCA is all about sound so I focused on Sound (no video) - Pioneer P9 CD and Processer, DLS 3 way front array (6 in factory location, 4 and tweet in custom made kick); Eclispe Subs in 2.5 cu sealed enclosure, Zapco 9.0 (2000 watts rms) on subs, Zapco 4.0 running 4 channels one to each tweet and one to each 4, another Zapco 4.0, bridged, running the 6s in the door.

Trunk is basic b/c I still wanted it to be usable. Amps in the floor where the spare was, P9 processor to the left in the floor, fusing and power distribution to the right in the floor, Subs in the enclosure under the rear deck area. The car is D E A D quiet - there is enough Dynamat in just the doors to do most normal cars.

My installation photo log is on CD and is at my office; when I go in tomorrow, I will bring it home to post here. Will throw a few photos of the car on here too.

I should mention that the tires are about 10k miles old - my first set I got almost 55 k out of - mostly highway miles. Brakes are drilled rotors, EBC pads, Goodrich SS brakes lines. Performance wise, car is bone stock - I was going to do some work to it but just never got around to it. Maintenance wise: garage kept, services at all the right intervals, washed and waxed regularly by me - I used to own a car detailing and modification center but sold it to go to become an attorney years ago. I still love to detail my cars though..............

Again, thanks for the input. Will post some pics

Return to stock before selling will give you the most return. GS's 2nd gens are not exactly selling that great as it took mine some time to sell. Market is flooded with them at this time. Take a look at Cars.com and Autotrader.com for some idea on what your going to receive.

Wife and I just briefly touched upon this subject a few days ago. After seeing the new LSand a new member of my family arrived about a month ago, my wife was suggesting the new LS or Cayenne might be good for her . However, I just couldn't let go my GS (as she suggested I should sell it)!! I still think it is one beautiful car and I can't possibly imagine me unloading it with the current FMV of the car! So, I told her to forget about the idea and I will keep my GS regardless if we acquire a new ride or not.

Bill Acevedo and Omar Buker of Sounds Impossible in Atlantic Highlands NJ. They recently sold the store to someone else so ownership and quality of work is NOT the same. They built my last two competition cars and Bill has been doing all of my sork since 1993. They have built several world champions and all of the other cars they built for competition have all placed in the top 5 at IASCA finals. In one year, they put eight or nine guys in the top 5 at the same finals. Not only can they build a great system, Bill has a great set of ears...............

BTW - never heard of Autotoys 2000..............
