hey all the peoples with bodykits!!! did you completely take out the bumper reinforements when you put on the bodykits or did you alter the it?? dont let the bodyshop put it on without it..this is very very very dangerous!! if YOU yourself have to cut it, bite it, or whatever do it...i had to cut my own because the bodyshop said they couldnt do it.... erick

I would think they are metal reinforcements under the bumper cover .

It is dangerous because if the body shop takes out the reinforcement ( to make the front kit fit ) than you have just weakened your front end. The reinforcements are there to protect you in a head on collision .

i am still unclear as to which reinforcements r being metioned here. i recently had my kit installed and i had to remove the foam 5 mph bumper reinforcements because they could be seen through the openings of thie kit. r these the ones that r being mentioned or is there something else?

No the foam parts aren't the reinforcements. The reinforcements are the metal bumper thing that the foam sits on. It kinda looks like a battering ram that goes around the front bumper. All the cars have it and the purpose of it is to absorb shock in collisions and prevent damage to the chasis and motor. There's a back bumper reinforcement as well. I used to be an old school rice rocketeer and that was one thing we would take out to put on bodykits and to reduce weight. It's pretty dangerous and can turn a little fender bender into a total wreck.

Let me ask a question then are we talking about the aluminum piece the goes from left to right behind the bumper cover and the cheap cooler style 5 mph bumpers?? If so mine when away with the dinosaur recently since my kit have a big opening.
