Default Ripped off my TTE Lip yesterday

Boy was I pissed!
I was driving at about 80 mph in the left lane of highway yesterday when one of those truck tire treads came flipping out of the car in front of me. Had no time to react, so I ran over it, heard a huge thud. Ripped the TTE lip down in the center, but not totally off, so now it's hanging down in the middle about 2 inches. Afraid to drive the car lest I catch it on something and rip it completely off. The sides are still attached, but the glue is completely disconnected, I think it's still held on by the screws only. Got a little bit of paint cracking.
At least it's not totally damaged, could have been worse.

hey Jerry, sorry to hear, at least you didn't rip it off completly and run it over. at 80mph that might not have been too fun.

Damn..sorry to hear that...That is also a fear of mine....I try to keep a safe distance behind the car in front of me and I don't drive behind trucks or SUVs as a means of trying to keep that from happening...

Sorry to hear about the damage. I thought the TTE lip was connected by adhesive only....I guess i was wrong.

Hope you're able to get it repaired, and thankfully it didnt get completely destroyed.

As a streetbike rider truck tires on the highway are deadly.... If you hit one of those on a bike... its curtins....

Sorry to hear, Jerry. In my opinion, trucks are menaces on the open road. Like others said, if it's any consolation, it could have been much, much worse.

This sucks, EE. I hit a truck tire one day, but got lucky that it didn't tear up any of the body. It hit the underplate pretty hard, but that was it.

Good luck with the repair. At least it wasn't ripped totally off.
