Saying the differential integrates with the transmission is like saying the TV integrates with the DVD player. Obviously, this is not true. The DVD player sends a signal to the TV.

The driveshaft's purpose is to transfer the power that leaves the transmission to the differential. Integration means the differential would influence the transmission. Which it does not do. The transmission sends a signal to the differential. Obviuosly, when engine/compression braking, the flow of power is reversed. But it is still uni-directional. And even still, the differential has no control over the transmission. It doesn't tell it what gear to be in. It doesn't tell it to shift.

Does the TC have an adverse affect on the stock engine mounts?

I didn’t vote but here’s my view on the TC and LSD mods:
For those GS400 fans who plan on doing FI, it makes most sense to go with a TC and TRD lsd with the stock gearing. As others have said, the trd unit will not increase acceleration but it will help to provide traction. An FI GS4 with TC and a 3.76 lsd in theory should be quicker but in real world, there may be traction and or rev limiter issues that could make you slower vs a trd unit with stock gearing.

For GS400 fans who do not plan on doing FI, it makes most sense to go with a TC and a 3.76lsd combo. However, individually, either mod will increase acceleration. Use of the TRD unit with stock gearing will improve traction but will not add to increase acceleration.

For GS430 fans who do not plan on doing FI, a TC and 3.76lsd are the way to go, but there are potential CEL issues with a TC. Getting a cel on condition due to the TC is not a big deal provided your city does not use odbII for emission testing. However, for those who have concerns about getting a cel on, should go with a 3.76lsd to increase acceleration. This is my setup and I’m very happy with it.

So in conclusion, the biggest bang for the buck answer is “it depends”.

Higher gear ratio=quicker acceleration, loss of top end speed.

Things are done through stages. The LSD is just step 1 for me. Naturally it is not going to give me astronimical performance gains. But like i said, the car feels quicker out of corners. Just my experience with this unit. Some time down the line when i'm bored, I will let a shop do FI for me. My money will be spent on a car that is already a hotrod out the box...The GTO.

Just remember. There is always someone faster. And there is always someone who did it for less money.

A friend works at a Pontiac dealership, and had a chance to drive a GTO. Not bad. Just have to put up with GM quality (or lack thereof).

My buddy is back Ok, the GTO is not made here. The quality of the fit and finish is beyond other GM products here in the states. The GTO is actually the Ausie Holden Monaro.
