I know myself and a light interior just wouldn't cut it, more maintenance than a woman. Went with a black interior and have no regrets, though it still requires work to keep pretty.

Not to mention the entry exit wounds on the corner of the front seats

technically, for GS there is no tan, it's either ivory, grey, or black and saddle for some SD GS.

I have ivory as well; it was my first choice when buying the car. I love the look. Lucky for me no kids yet, so it's just me and my wife and no stains. Black interiors feel more claustrophobic to me -- ivory is very open and spacious. My previous car was a black on black miata, which might explain the claustrophobia

When I had my GS, I found the best thing to be consistent maintence. I used a turtle wax leather cleaner conditioner (spray it on a cloth, wipe on seat, dry with another cloth) I worked really well.

For all those other sufaces i used orange blast (you can get it at walmart), just a quick mist and wipe with a stiff bristle brush. This worked really well for the kick plates.

my gs4 is tan interior. my is300 was black interior. my sc430 is saddle interior.

if you ask me, if i HAD the choice on my gs4 (i got it used so it was not really a choice), i would like to get black instead. it's just so much easier to maintain and it looks better imho. the interior on my is300 was black and it's very nice. even my sc430 now with saddle interior is very nice and easier to maintain

basically i learned that
1) black interior does NOT get hotter in the summer, that's not right and i proved it wrong. coz' my gs400 was just as damn hot as my is300 when we parked the two cars together outside (and my gs400 has darker tint already, for that matter)
2) the lighter the interior, the harder it is to keep clean. that's pretty simple. my friend has sc430 with ecru (white) interior, you go imagine

it seems like sometimes the black leather gets those white lines in it prematurely and it looks cracked almost(even though it's not)

maybe not exactly white, but have you ever seen black leather seats get all those lighter colored creases in them. it looks like cracks. I'll try to find a pic.....

I'll second chuckb's response. Black leather shows the cracks much more than ivory. All leather eventually gets the stress cracks, but they show on black so much more than ivory. So, while the ivory leather shows dirt more, the black shows cracks more. It is much easier to clean the seats than to have them reconditioned. Yeah, the lighter carpet shows dirt more than black, but in my opinion, ivory looks more impressive. Just my 2 cents. Don't regret getting ivory! I love ivory interior because it looks more luxurious.

Anyone else feel the same, or what's your secrets for keeping the typical dirt from showing? thanks.
Yes I like blk on blk too, and wish I had search longer instead of getting the first GS400 I looked at. And I have young kids also that are dirt magnets, part of having kids is to get use to little messes. But keep it down to a maintainable level by having my kids wash their hands, check shoes/cloths for dirt or gum...and absolutely no food or toys in the car, they go in the trunk. I did have a few quarter sized black spots in the carpet that came out easily using Tuff Stuff in the spay can. The leather cleans up really good with Fast Orange without pumace.

what you might want to do is try replacing the grill with a gray cloth instead of ivory. that way, it'll match your dash and will stand out
