external add-on NAV antenna?

Hey yo people.
Someone posted months ago about having an external antenna for the NAV. It's like this piece of antenna that sits on the dash, and wired in. What kind is it and where can I find it?
My uncle's car finally came out from the bodyshop, and I had a few days to drive it. He has a Pioneer DVD-NAV system, AVIC-9DVD DVD-NAV drive, running on AVX-P7000CD monitor and AVM-P9000R master control unit. I think those all go together. So I went out for a spin and used the NAV to get home from Rowland Heights to my house (about 30 min. drive.)
I have to say, it's PIN-POINT ACCURACY. ABSOLUTELY no off-roading. No need for self-adjustment, it's totally accurate. It counts down from 1000 ft. to 0 ft. for the next turn, with 100ft. increments. When the car gets to the intersection stopping point, the distance meter will stop at exactly 0 ft.!
I wish my NAV will be that accurate. I'm thinking external antenna might work.

Hey gs4will do you think that external antenna will work with the factory navigation system like i posted earlier mine just gets thrown totally off track and someone and someoneposted that it was the tint. you think this might just as well without having to cut tint on nav/antenna?

LatinStyle_400 I cut my tint around the antenna already and it helped alittle but still it's kinda off.

gs4will... the clarion piece sounds interesting, but how hard is it to run the wire from the front dash all the way back into the trunk? Where does the wire run?
Thanks.
Thanks.

For an aftermarket NAV, it is a b*tch to install. Many wires, plus you have to connect the wires to your brake sensors and your car's speed sensors. I have my alpine nav antenna right in front of my dashboard. Orginally I wanted to put it outside in the top back of my window but I was paranoid that someone might pull it out. Out of all the alpine installation, that was the most annoying.

Give Roberto of Pacific Coast parts a call (800) 421-5080. The part number is 096013330. It is $22.02. It took me around 15 minutes to run the antenna from the dash to the nav computer in the trunk. There is enough room to tuck the wire in underneath the door trim.
It had made the difference where before I would never see the GPS signal, whereas now, I get it most of the time.

told ya guys pioneer's latest dvd-nav with the 7000dvd is the best...the master control unit makes it even better!
But RSRP of almost $4k for all three components makes it too expensive for me....especially on a GS, I would think on an LX470 it would be a better investment because you could actually use it more cause you would take the LX on long drives and trips where GPS would be needed...but most of you GS guys don't need a big car to haul your family along...plus you guys live in big cities where its almost necessary!

How does the antenna hook up to the NAV computer? And does it matter if you mount it on front dash or rear panel?

Once you remove the external housing of the connector of the antenna it will plug right into the NAV computer. I put it on the front dash because the tint on my rear window blocks the GPS signals regardless of what antenna I use. The windshield is the only piece of glass that is not tinted.
