Maybe the "water" swishing sound could be coolant going through the heater core??? Just a thought...

You usually hear that water gushing sound when you first start the car up for the first time during the day. That is coolant going through the lines. It should only last for a few seconds.

if you're hearing that swishing sound then there's air in the cooling system.

what kind of noise is the rear end. while drive? when putting in gear? etc...?

when you just start the car, and as it starts to warm up a bit it stops, usually after about 30 seconds in the rear.
