I was curious to see were any other drivers where with there 98's, or any other year for that matter in mileage. I really have no clue has to where I might stand mileage wise to other drivers.
I only have to commute 2 miles to work...And the car has been to NYC once and Philly twice, thats it (relatively short rides) from te Washington DC area. The rest are probably CHICK HUNTING MILES...
Am I average, above or below the normal. I have checked the mileage on a couple of websites, and agaisnt the Kelly's bluebook value and seem to be in good shape, but I really have no clue as to how they compile there figures so I am just a little hesistant to believe them.
I have just about one year left in payments on my 98 GS300, and was wondering should I be looking at GS430's now in a trade in, or invest in some engine upgrades. (Which I am not sure that I will be able to recover at sale time...)

I have a '99 GS 300 (purchased in Dec. of 1998) w/ just over 37,000 miles. I'd like to have fewer miles, but I have made quite a few trips from Sacramento to Los Angeles during the past year. The car got pretty beat up w/ chips and pitting on the front bumper d/t the unforgiving drive, but after the repaint last month, the GS looks as good as new.
I originally planned to trade in my GS when the redesign appeared in 2003 or 2004, but I have decided to keep my '99 to use as a daily driver. Thus I purchased the extended warranty (7yrs 100,000).

My 98 will hit 46k miles in about 9 miles. Bought mine at 33k miles on November 2000. I've put on more than I wanted but that was due to a trip from Seattle to LA.
ucsdsig, just curious...how much does it costs for you to paint the bumper and the hood? I got some chips on my front too. Who did you choose to paint your car and can you tell that it was repainted?

GS4Me - my insurance company paid for the repainting, as I told them that the majority of the damage had come from sandblasting during a long drive. All I had to pay was my $100 deductible, as it was covered under my comprehensive policy. I think the total for repainting the front bumper, the hood, and blending the front panels came out to a little over $1000.
I had the car painted at the body shop located on the Lexus dealers lot. I was generaly happy w/ the result, and I could not any color mismatch (I have an alpine silver GS) when I picked up the car (and I looked pretty hard). A week later while my car was under some right parking lights, I noticed a few minor bubbles in the paint. Hmmm, I think I'll give the body shop a call to address this concern. I hope they'll be no problem, as they say their work carries a lifetime warranty. But I am pleased w/ the overal result, as the car now looks almost brand new!
