Default Lost half of my only key. Need help

OK. I have the transponder. The black part with the lock/unlock & trunk buttons... I have that. My master and only key was old and the metal top half has become M.I.A.. I would think there is a way to get just the metal part cut for my can based on the VIN ... the transponder still unlocks/locks and pops the trunk.....

Anyone know where I could make this happen. Thanks

I called a local locksmith and they wanted $150 bucks for the key and to cut it.

Yes, you can just order a new key without the transponder. After you get the key cut...you can just put your old transponder into the new key. My local dealer actually had a "generic" key for around $75. It's the same thing, just doesn't have the Lexus "L" logo on the back. Or you can get the OE lexus key which cost more.

i might be wrong but this is what ive had to deal with recently.

when i got my car from my cousin, i only had a vallet key.

so no problem, my friend works at lexus and he can get me a new key cut for 125.

but i found out that in order to get past the stock immobilizer, you need to program the master key with another master key

the vallet key will not work.

the only way to get around this, is to order a new ECU which comes with a set of new keys ~ 1500-2500$

which sucks, BUT

my friend had a locksmith that is specialist at AAA that lived next to my house. I took my car to him, he reprogrammed my ECU, programmed my Vallet, New Master, and made me a generic master key for 300$.

took like 45 min and so far after 1 month no problems.
