Just bought a 1999 GS300
Yeah I'm amped about this car. There was no turning back when I test drove it. I did a CarFax on it and all seemed well. I even took it into Tuffy to have them check it out and they said everything was in excellent condition, and if I was getting it for less than 16k it was a steal. I registered it yesterday and the Owners Manual is on the way.
Is there anything else you guys recommend doing when first getting your Lexus, or anything you can tell me about the GS300 that I should know?
I plan on making some sexy mods to this car. Here are some pics:

Thanks, fellas! Here is a list of some potential mods I want to make:
Sound - I need more bass but I don't wanna spend upwards of $200. Basically just a 10" sub and amp is all I really want.
Grill - I wanna get that chromed out grill for the front.
Lighting - Some ground lights would be real slick in blue.
Rims - oh yes! More Chrome
That would probably be it to start off. Any recs on where to go? Any opinions on anything else that would make the car look sweet?

Welcome, nice car! You can chrome that grill out yourself, its already chrome under the paint. Save you some money and its easy I did a little while ago. Put in some 01 style taillights and maybe exhaust or just new tips? These things aren't too expensive.
make it chrome for $5 and 2 hours

For the new style taillights I would get them from Carson Toyota (l-tunedparts.com). As far as exhaust and tips go you can search and find many different exhausts for sale. But if you just want the tips the Borla tips are very common among people here. Check out Borla's website, I bought the whole exhaust for about $500 form ******************.com. Tips are under $100 just search. You can also search the GS forums for "DIY chrome grill" and find write ups. I'll tell you what I did and it worked great.
I bought Citrus Strip gel type paint remover from Meijer. Take your grill off (just a couple screws). Use a q-tip and put a line of the gel on the top of the slats. Wait about 1 hour and the paint came off really easy. Use a razor blade and just scrap it off. Then I quickly wiped the top of the slats down with some nail polish remover or use acetone. Then gave it a quick wash with just regular soapy water. Done, very easy for a different look. The Citris Strip brand at Meijer worked very well. Just take your time and put the gel only where you want to remove paint.

Congrats on the car. Nice color choice anouther DPW member!
Anyways if you get new rims and get anything larger than a 17" you almost have to lower it otherwise it will look like a 4x4.
Oh and for underbody lighting, silhouette lighting looks really nice and clean. Theres just been a thread posted up about it, that maybe you have seen.
But welcome to CL and keep us up to date on your mods.

Thanks for the info GUN, You saved me $250. Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I think 1st and foremost will be the grille and then the sub.
Thx for the info LexIV. How much is lowering? And how large can I go without having to get new tires?
I heard for the price of a powered sub you can get a good 10" or 12" enclosed with an amp. Any recs?
