Oh man. Another mod opportunity to break into these tails to get at the LED's.
Urgggh. Not something I would look forward to trying.
Looks like we should hit up the manufacturer for some kinda warranty.

anyway, i agree with chris. seeing from pics and such (and together with info from johnny), i don't think you can easily replace the led at all. i wouldn't think they had considered that option anyway. guess if you really have to change led laater on that's going to be a challenge

Well i understand what you are saying. In the end, any warrantee return sucks for the buyer, the seller and the supplier.
Henry,
What i would like to hear is Steve setting expectations with the supplier that these products are good (reliability wise) and I would expect the assurance to be that they would offer a generous guarantee.
In good faith, if the quality is truly managed well and if the supplier truly selects premium parts for a lens that has non-replaceable LEDs, then they should not have a problem offering this to customers. I'm sure Steve does not want the liability of holding a group buy and sell a ton of these and then 3 months down the road we are posting for a Group Return !
It is defintely in Steve's best interest to get some type of assurance.
You could also ask the supplier to "donate" one set of lenses or even just one side to me for reliablity testing and LED reliability analysis and vendor qualification. My tests would be destructive, so that's why this would be a donation, i.e. write off.
Don't forget what I do for a living.

It's not that big of a deal to defeat the lamp failure module. The only thing you give up is other actual bulbs reporting failures. It is easy to access from the trunk. I clipped a resistor and pulled it up. It can always be tack-soldered later to restore operation. You can't just pull the connector out (as I found out the hard way) because power to the tails is passed thru the module. You just need to eliminate its output signal, which is an input signal to one of the ECUs. There are posts on this in the Lighting forum.
