Hi all. I was seraching through ebay motors and came across someone selling a 98-04 LEXUS GS400 GS300 A/C & HEATER CONTROL w/DISPLAY. The link is below (copy and paste if you want to see it):

I have a 98GS400 and I don't have this type of control unit. Will it work in mine if I did an upgrade? Will the connections be there or not? Will it cause problems with my electrical system? Any ideas? Thanks.

That's for a car with Navi. The wire harnesses are completely different, including the Heater / AC controls.
If you are an electronics wiz, Tech or an engineer , you might be able to trace and adapt the wiring over, but this is definitely not plug and play for the novice.
People have completely converted over to Navi, but getting the rest of the parts needed to complete the job is not easy at all.

I second that.
The multiplex communication bus links each ECU together along a single chain throughout the car. Since the non-navi models didn't have the mutli-display unit (the part in that auction), the link from the tilt & telescopic steering ECU links directly to the A/C controller. On the navi models, that link is made from the tilt/telescopic ECU to the multi-display and then to the A/C controller.
