Dexter, did you use some sort of special procedure (ie, bending of left-side clips) that others mentioned in order to get it to fit perfectly?

Nope, not at all. I just used the small SD to get the clip started, got my fingernail underneath it, and it came out very easily.

The Chrome went in without any issue whatsoever, no force required - I think the key is starting it in teh correct side......it just doen't plop right in top down...

Good Luck Guys - AND PROPS TO STEVE G. for the low cost fix up

Sure!

Just trying to give back a fraction of the knowledge I've learned from CL so far.

Hey guys, I swear, mine would not snap in on the left side (driver's.) before some modifications. Maybe some bezels have different clips on them. I remember that on the right side, the clips were facing outwards, on the left, they were facing down. I had to bend the left clips to face outwards until they grabbed on and clipped in.
So,,,, for the ones that did not have trouble with the bezel, do you remember how the left underside of the bracket looked?
thanks

Does your fit well? I find it diffucukt to believe the rings are different - a 98 fits a 01

Heck, for <$20 delivered, get another one and install it again.

Keep us posted.

Dexter--

Regarding the clips on the left side, did they point down or outward like the ones on the right side?

Can we still get this part from the dealer> I tried to order it last week and they said that the part # was discontinued.

Redjeeper --

Sadly, your dealer is right. They no longer sell this part separately and only offer it if you buy the complete shifter assembly, which = $$$

I knew I should have bought one when I had the chance
