i thought about doing this once i get my supra. Well have the targa top redone to actually be 100% carbon fiber. who knows i might get a carbon fiber hood to match. but the only hood i like is the do-luck one. something about the top secret one..... i don't know, i guess because everyone have one or something similar to it.

I think that would look REALLY REALLY REALLY good.

I have seen this done a few times on different cars and love it. Both as an overlay and structurally replaced. How much experience does your body guy have with carbon? I wouldn't be as worried about it looking good(I know it will) as I would with having it done correctly, expecially since its an overlay. Also, some carbon interior pieces would compiment the roof well. I plan on doing some pieces on mine eventually. Very classy if done correctly. Here's a shifter console for my old DA I did a couple years ago:

CF interior looks mad weird in a lex tho. and... honestly, there's not much weight reduction on the roof. this should be good for looks.
what can we do to reduce weight of our cars... cuz my v8 is 4600 lbs =) i might as well take out the backseats and the passenger one haha

The BMW M3 CSL (coupe super light, a name taken from their "batmobile" 6 of the early 80s) and the new M6 have REAL carbon fiber roofs. They don't save a LOT of weight, maybe 10-15 lbs tops but the less weight that is high, the better for the car. Now the CSL is a light car, I think about 200lbs lighter than the M3 but the M6 with a carbon fiber roof is still a relative pig, at around 3800lbs, that is the weight of a 3GS sedan.
However, I cannot argue with BMW engineers, if they feel there is a substantial advantage to having a carbon fiber roof.
So that is the FUNCTIONAL aspect of it.
Personally, I would avoid the carbon fiber "look" on the roof and just paint it black.
