My fiance and I rushed off for an early dinner tonight (with former mod Dex and his wife) in the LS... ran out in such a hurry that I left the garage door open.

I came back to find that somebody had opened up the trunk and yanked out both my JP lights and made off with them. Only got half the wiring harness / sheared off on one side.

Only pic I got isn't too good, sun was going down. Haven't had a chance to post it until now, been a little crazy with the cops etc. and didn't want to think about it. Good thing I guess I've got the old 98 lights on the shelf.

 

wtf.... that sucks... well you know its someone who knows the value of JP tails.... is that all they took?

 

Oh man. That sucks Dave. Hmm. How would these thieves know that these are expensive unless they know about the Lexus aftermarket?

 

oh wow. that is definitely something. There goes a set of $1000 headlights.

Then again, I get a feeling that the theft was someone who probably is on CL. Only a lexus or a GS enthusiast would know the value of JP tails. To the rest of the world, they look just like stock.


Sad sad day. I hope someone is just playing an april fool trick on you (granted its not a funny one).

Sorry to hear dave. It could probabaly be a non CL member with a GS that saw you drive around locally. They probabaly dont even know what JP is. Hopefully they will get caught with the tail lights on their car.

 

any other info or possible leads should be PM'd to DaveGS4, I'd hate for the culprit to be reading this.

 

Yup look for any JP tails for sale with half a wiring harness.

This is pretty shocking. Did they get in your house? or take other parts from the GS?
I mean if they had time to go for the tail lights, they would've had time to jack it up and take the rims. Seems like someone really wanted those lights...

 

HOLY cow....sorry this had to happen to you Dave. I can't believe someone would be brave enough to steal from your own garage. Hopefully just a crime of opportunity and not anyone on the board. I have a slugger baseball bat I can send you if you ever find the guy

damn dave, im sooooooooooooooo sorry to hear this.... i know i would be DEVASTATED had that happened to me... i guess we should ALL be on the look out to see if these pop up on eBay or anything like that. also, not for nothin dave, i DEFINITELY think someone that knows you and the value of the lights did this. best of luck with the investigation and i cant wait for this person to get caught

Sorry to hear! Was there any othe rdamage to the car? The pic shows some paint loss on the edge, or is it just the light?

 

You gotta think it's somebody that knows you or at least knows where you live. Seems odd that that would be the only thing stolen too. Good Luck with the recovery of your loss, insurance or otherwise. I had the airbags stolen from my car in front of my old condo, and the worst thing was the feeling of being violated. In your own garage... That just sucks.
