Default GS OEM Spoiler install, help! pics..

I just bought OEM GS spoiler to complete stock sport package look on my 01 GS430. Spoiler came off 00 GS400. I read some threads and found out that there is a bracket that goes on the trunk lid to install the spoiler. I could not find DIY on this install can anyone help. I will take the car to local custom install shop here in Daytona to get it installed. Here are the pics of the spoiler and with what components I got it.

I was in the same boat as you- when I bought my 01 430, it did not have a spoiler either. I went to my local dealer and was told basically that all cars that come from lexus with the oem spoiler has brackets in the trunk lid, and the only to do this on a non-spoiler car is to buy a new trunk lid. The guy told me what they do at the dealer is just order a non oem spoiler that they drill holes to install- which is what I ended up doing myself - I got mine form spoilerdepot.com. Good luck.

I think your best bet is to bring it to the body shop....

Your dealer is either mis-informed or FULL of CRAP. The oem deck lid will of course come with a bracket from the factory, but the bracket can be retrofitted to any non-spoiler deck lid.

What is needed is a template from the dealer to show where to drill the holes to attach those two metal brackets. The OEM spoiler is held in with two large head rivets on two holes and two square plastic plugs that are threaded.

Instead of doing that second plastic part, just use a second rivet on the rear of the bracket. Also everything is also secured with double stick tape to prevent vibration and have a tight fit against the body. Once the brackets are mounted to the deck lid, the spoiler can be attached to the bracket.

If the dealer does not have a template where to drill the holes, then a skilled body shop will have to reference where to drill the holes for the two brackets .

Here are my past spoiler threads:

Good Luck

the guy at the dealer was probably both full of crap and misinformed! He specifically said there was no way to retrofit- I could tell by his tone that he wasn't intereseted in taking it on- he also gave me an astronomically high price quote.

YUP , I guess you could take that as a sign that they didn't want your business.

My buddy who's a painter would get some tough jobs to quote that he really didn't want to do. So he would quote a very high price. If the customer walked away he was happy. If the customer agreed to pay the price quoted, he was more than happy to take their money.
