Default 20 inch rims

What's up my people? Quick question, I have a 2000 Lexus GS 400 and I wanted to put 20" rims on her, will 20" rims hinder my car in any way and if so what exactly does it mess up? Basically should I stick with 18" or 20"? Help...

I would go 20 but they are out of spec meaning that your speedometer will change a bit. So when you are going 80 on the speedo you will really be hitting 85...

I have 20's on mine, they fit fine at stock height. No worries. I just lowered with Tein CS coilovers, full drop, they rub a little in front now, only when fully turned though. So not worried. Also im running 35 serries tires so I can even go lower series and fix that... or raise it up a little, but NO thanks

Welcome to CL. I think someone in the past may have brought this up Try searching and I am sure you can find the thread I would do it for you - but that would defy the point of me telling you to!

20's are fine if you get the right widths and offsets.
One issue you need to keep in mind is the wight of the wheel. Unsprung weight (the weight of the wheel) is the enemy of power. More mass will reduce your 0-60 times.
I'm running 20's now. I checked my speedo with a GPS both before and after installing them. Right now with 20's when my speedo is showing 75, the GPS is reading 76.5. It's a minor difference at best.
Do your research on wheel weights. I wish I would have asked a couple more questions or at least got a straight answer for the questions I did ask before getting the rims I bought. Luckily the GS is a pretty adaptable machine.
Remember that chrome is generally a heavier wheel. And spinners are really going to be heavy!

20s can work and have worked just fine for many people.

Go to the search function and type in the following key word / usernameunder advanced. (remember to hit the drop down box and select "threads started by")

20" iFORGED TECHNIK / DGOT20S
20" iFORGED TRIAL
20" Zauber Gettin / Bluelex
20" HRE 540r / rominl
19" HRE 540 / bitkahuna
20" DONZ columbo / tmf2004
19" Axis HIro / tmf2004

These should help with wheels and perspective. good luck

Welcome!

DO NOT GET 245/30/20 AS YOUR TIRES!!!

It will be the biggest mistake you ever made if you do get tires this thin. Trust me, you dont want to order a new rim like I did

Your tire size is not your problem, your wheels are, those wheels are normal everyday spec, but you have tires as if you were running a custom very aggressive spec. Thats the reason they look like that (sunken in, etc etc). On the 2nd Gen I'd only run 245/30 to help out with a super aggressive fitment, but there is nothing wrong with 245/30

If you get 20x9 and 20x10 wheels, would stretching your tires be a good idea to get the low profile look? Say going 225/30/20 F and 255/30/20 R?

I would like to get 20's but hate the 4x4 look. I would like to get 20's and have the same diameter as stock with tires on.

I'm currently sitting 19's and slammed on Tein CS. I'm having minor rubbing issues as it is. My question is, is it possible to stay the same wheel diameter but go 20's?

245/30 and 275/25......not many choices of tires if memory serves me correct. Pirelli P-Zeros if I recall.
