Question

I drive alot of back roads, and occasionally come across a stop sign. When I disengage the cruise by braking, and then come to a stop, the cruise won't re-engage again after I get up to speed. It's fine on the freeway, like if I have to tap the brakes for slower traffic, but if I come to a stop, I have to reset the speed selection. I know this sounds like a minor thing, but is it normal? No other car I've ever owned has operated this way

I think it's the way Jap cars work. My GM cars always worked after coming to a stop. My Mazda MX-6 however will not re-engage cruise if I go below 25mph. I bet it is the same thing with the Lex.

theanimala is correct. When speed drops below 25, cruise is canceled as is explained succinctly in your owner's manual.

Don't know if it's limited only to Japanese cars though.

Eric,
Tapping the brakes or pulling the control stem towards you will disengage the cruise. After getting at least above 25 mph, a quick tap up on the stem resumes previous set speed.

Clarification: if speed drops below 25 mph, the previous cruise setting is not retained.

Well, it's definately not limited to Jap cars, because neither my Honda or Nissan operated this way. Too bad it's not a C-Best configurable... and as for it being in the owners manual... I'm a guy, and we don't read no stinking manuals!
