Default Need driveblet and tensioner replaced, how much $?

Got an oil change today and they said I need to have the drivebelt and tensioner replaced. It was a toyota dealership. I plan on calling the Lexus dealership tomorrow to see how much. My car has just under 80k miles, I was hoping I wouldnt have to do this until the 90k service. Should I go ahead and have the rest of the 90k service stuff done or just the drive belt/tensioner, and maybe water pump?

hey Rich-call Sewell and order the stuff. you should be able to do it . the belt is about $30 and the tensioner should be about $40-50 for the whole assembly with new tensioner and pulley.
I did mine but I ended up just using the pulley off the new tensioner because my pulley bearing was bad but tensioner was still fine.

I never thought about ordering the parts from Sewell. Thanks for the info guys. Is this a hard DIY or what? Any info or pics would help.

I know I'm kinda bringing this back from the "dead", but I am having the same problem and it is quite annoying/embarassing driving with this sound coming from my 2nd gen.
I was wondering how difficult of a DIY this is as well and if there is a write up anywhere. Any help is appreciated.

Loosen belt and remove.
Remove upper two timing belt covers.
There are three bolts holding the tensioner assembly on.
Remove bolts and be sure not to drop them into the timing cover.
Install new assembly.
Install covers.
Install belt.

I still havent done this yet but if it is as easy as sockfocks describes I am tempted to order the parts and do it myself. Stan where are you getting the price from for the tensioner?
