As TeflonGS said, reset the ecu...if you ever ran your battery down it will mess with some of the electronics in the car. All it takes is a reset and it usually fixes most of the problems.
Remove the negative battery wire for 15-20minutes and reconnect it. Then get in the car and see if the problem is still there. If it is, the wires behind the dash connecting to the speedometer might be loose. If none of those work, then the unit might be broken. It is very rare though.
