Default My First CEL, Updated!!!

I just pulled code which is P0430, catalityc conveter below efficiency bank 2, so what do you think guys? Is it really catalityc conventer or something else?

Car has nearly 80K, i've done injection system cleaning few weeks ago and i do have SRT Intake, i've noticed that car is running rich since i've installed SRT, could it be a reason for cats to go bad?

Tell me what you guys think, thanks in advance
- Jake

Jake,
According to the service manual.
P0430 could be caused by defective oxygen sensor or three way catalityc conventer.
Hurry to the dealer and have it cover under warranty as you are so close the over the warranty limit.
Good luck,
Ben

just get it done! do you reallly have any other choice?

the car's still driveable, but you cant smog until you fix it. and even then, you'll drop more for your cats themselves than the complete install now.

just get it done is what i say.

I'm waiting for parts to come in, than pay what i have to

Actually CEL went off when i was on my way to dealer, but they said they will replace it so i'm just fine.

Car is totally drivable, can't even feel any diffrence.

I'm wondering if they should replace both cat's? I belive the only failed cat will be replaced

Any toughts?

do you have any other mods on your car besides the SRT? also do you have the ECU installed with it as well?

the car must be realllllly running rich if your cats are already starting to go bad. and even worse, they might burn out your O2 sensors, and those are $$$$ to replace. i would honestly say just try and get a A/F ratio test if possible. I wouldnt spend much on it at all, but it will give you a better understanding of where you're at.

If it turns out your running rich with the SRT, then you can either A) get a SAFC if you wanna keep the SRT, or B) just return everything back to stock.

now, SAFCII with SRT, hmmmmm

too bad CL is making your pocket book

Yeah, i hear you

SRT have been installed with ECU, car is running rich when cold, i can smell gas like it never been burnt, anyway what's the deal with SAFCII, i understand it's stand alone fuel management system. Is it really something i should look at closely? What's real advantage of SAFCII with intake only?

And the last one, do you have any idea how much it would cost with fine tune?

Dealer will replace just one cat which is priced at $884.00 piece i don't have to pay,

I agreed to pay labor and parts with O2 sensor for about $343.00

I'll also find out whats warranty on previous years 98-99 GS400 emission parts.

I have to tell you guys, i was lucky that CEL came on 35 miles before i hit 80,000 miles, uhhh

Thanks to those who supported me on this forum

If they are replacing the O2 sensor and the cat, they're not really doing their job. It's either the cat or the O2 sensors. 9 times out of ten it's the O2 sensor.
