Does anyone know the difference between japanese chrome, super chrome and chrome? manaray? gs4will? Globe

based on my perception/limited knowledge, jap/super chrome are not as blindingly shiny as the reg US chrome. but jap chrome retain the subtle shine and lasts longer.

the funny thing is that in both europe and asia, chrome is not as popular as here in the US. so if you actually want the "chrome" option, they do not cost as much as here too. for a set of "chrome" wheels in japan, it would only cost ~$120-200/set more than silver/polish finish.

also, if you say HYPER chrome or SUPER chrome in US, then it'll be something like the ultimate BLING BLING super bright in-your-face brightness chrome. But if you say that in Japan it might be something subtle or even like a black chrome. Nothing too bling bling. I like Japanese chromes. :eek:

I was told that japan chrome is where the front of the rim (facing outward) is coated in chrome and the sides are left alone.

Also, some Japanese "chrome" isn't really chrome at all...it's some type of shiny film coating...I can't quite explain it as I don't quite know what it is exactly myself. But it's not chrome as us American's know it...

I too prefer Japanese chrome (as far as chrome goes!)...but then again, I'm not a bling-bling wanna-be rap star type of guy...
