They are the same lights sold by JP, Wise and atleast one other brand.

Who "makes" the tails? It is probably a 3rd party manufacturer.

I see. Thank you for the explanation. I see the price for the sets Carson is selling has come down I may have to get a set.

Maybe a few quick sprays of a black paint and cleat coat will help match the glossy paint on the back panel, either way, I don't think that's a big deal.

On the other hand, does the JP tails also give a "bulb out" warning on your dash like the others?

I am still patiently waiting for mines to come in......

As long as they are LED tails, yes, but I am working on a Fix for that down the road, so no worries.

Yup. Exactly the same. I thought it only came on intermittently but its constant. As soon as you step on the brake, remote start, anything that causes the tail lights to flash will trigger the "bulb out" light. I'm getting used to it though.

Just a little more.

about the covers, today i actually took off my jp taillights. i noticed about those clips. the plastic on the jp led taillights are glossy like you said, the clips will fit but it will actually look pretty funny imho. nonetheless, the part is always covered so i do't think it's big deal

and for me? i still think the taillight "mod" that glen did makes them look better
I agree Henry. I looked at the photos you and Glen took and will be outlining the tails as soon as the paint arrives. I bought Japanese tail light paint. I'll created the outline and mask using tape and newspaper and two coats should do it. I still have my old tail lights to practice on

I'll post pix when they're done. Does anyone have experience with Tail light paint?

Cool! Does your fix regulate the voltage or something to make the ECU think the tail light is a factory light?

Darius I used that stuff (in smoke color) on my old marker lights. Worked pretty well

Spray it on evenly. Since the paint is transparent, if you spray too long in any one area or if you coat more in one spot than another, there will be some variation.

I'd say coat evenly, take your time and give a good inspection between coats. You can always touch up if you catch it early on.

Basically it needs to simulate the original bulb resistance. That's the easy part.

The hard part is making it trigger the warning light when the LED's burn out. It needs to send an open circuit signal to trigger.

Did you order through the group buy or did you get an early batch?

I did this over a year ago with that paint, you have to let dry fully between coats:
