Default When you close your doors, does it thump?

Whenever I close my doors, the thump that it makes isn't smooth. I hear it as: "thu-thump". On a BMW, it's a solid clean "thump".

Am I the only one with this problem?

i think once you open and close the door enough the sound will start to "degrade"?

my driver door is definitely worse than the other 3 doors, i don't even think it sounds that good at all. and of course nothing like my sc430

don't really take it as a serious problem though. the car is still quiet

Mine is usually a solid thump, but if the doors are closing properly then I wouldnt worry about it. The saying "if it aint broke" comes to mind. If you take it back to the dealer you could always wind up with some dreaded rattle

Maybe its just me. My old car (1992 acura legend) has a solid thump that rivals the BMW (at least my cousin's E36). Just found it a bit odd that the GS doesn't really have that solid thump that I'm looking for. Oh well. I'm going to sound deaden my door like crazy so hopefully it'll improve

Adjust your doors - most people don't want to do this, but I have done it numerous times. Check the bolts holding the door on to make sure that it is securely on (don't see why it shouldn't unless you have taken your doors off) and the adjust the latch on the door frame. This may help. If this doesn't work then put some sound deadoning material in.

Tomorrow is the start of my audio install. I deaden my doors for audio purpose only, but if it helps with the door, why not

OH man this is a never ending project. I just did a projector retrofit on my car too.

I agree! the rear doors sounds pretty nice. I think that's the case with most cars unless your car is a taxi where the rear doors are used a crap load of time.

BMW doors dont sound like anything else when they shut. I have honestly shut the door on different bmw's 5-6 times just to hear that beautiful sound.

ahhhhh.......I love those cars more than anything

If you love them more than anything - you should be rocking a 540i or something like that. It's the closest thing to a GS4 w/ a manual. [drool]

Yea, BMW's (and Benzes) do have a nice thump. Oh well... at least we don't have to visit the dealership as often. I'll trade a nice door thump for unparalleled reliability.

Ooops - was I thinking out loud again??

It's okay. I feel the same way

But who said you can't get both! Which is why I'm on my quest to make my doors BMW-like!.

A brand new weatherstrip around the door will give you the new car thump. Try it , you'll be suprised. should be pretty cheap too
