Do you lie about what year your GS is?
So the year is 2006. Some of us just recently acquired a 2nd Gen GS that might be older say 98-02. You might hear someone say: "Sweet dude you bought a Lexus 
?! What year is it? How many miles?" You respond with something like "It's a '98,'99,or '00 with b/w 90k-110k miles on it." And the interrogator sais "Oh nevermind then 
," as they ponder Haha, why'd you buy a car so old with so many miles on it. Sometimes they might even blurt that part out.
Now after a while this can get annoying. People trying to take away from the value of you having a Lexus by criticizing it b/c it's an older model regardless of the generation. Either way you won't get that question much or at least in the same context if you have a car that isn't in the luxury line (i.e. Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Kia(ew!)). It's almost as bad as someone asking you how much $$$ you have or make. As a matter of fact they are asking you that, but in a much more indirect way.
So, seeing that 2nd Gen GS's run from 98-05, such annoying conversations with annoying people can be avoided simply by responding to the question with "It's an '03,'04, or '05 with [insert respectable mileage here]."

When people approach me about my car, they always thinks it's an 02 or newer. I laugh and say nope, it's only a 98. The styling is classic and timeless.
I feel great when people think it's like an 02 or an 03.

I think this poll is over before it got started.
First off, it's a Lexus, so why would you have to lie to anyone that doesn't have one?
And if they do have a Lexus, you're going to be caugh in the lie so once again, why lie?
Third, why lie? You're driving a Lex, that puts you in a class above most.
Lastly, if someone is lying to people they don't know, do you really think they'd own up to it to people that they knew HERE???

It's funny, just this weekend I pulled into the gas station, and this guy in a late model Caddy STS asked me if my car is an 06 I told him no its a 98. He response to me was "how do you keep it so clean for a 98"? I told him just simple washing and waxing and your car will look like its fresh from the showroom People appreciate a car that is kept clean regardless of age.

No way! I want people to know how old my car is. My GS is an '02, so it's still pretty new. I get a kick out of my dad's '92 LS though. I always detail it for him and it still looks like it just came out of the showroom. People always comment on how nice it looks, and i love the look on their face when I tell them it's a '92. Every single model that Lexus has rolled out from the beginning (except that ES250 - God, that thing was hideous!) still looks good today.

Trust me when I tell people its a 98 they always do the 
!! I feel great about that. especially when they ask if its orginal paint and I say Yes !! than I get . You have to feel very proud with whatever you buy in life cuz you bought with your own hard earned cash. If I see a vote saying yes I would be shocked especially on this forum..
