2000 GS Having Problems: Four Indicator Light On
Hi ClubLexus,
I bought a used 2000 Lexus GS. I was driving and all of a sudden four of the lights came on at once:
ABS, VSC, VSC OFF, and BRAKE
Then the car started making this grinding noise which eventually lead to both a grinding noise (on and off) and also a high pitched beeping sound.
I keep driving for about 30 minutes then it all goes away and the car becomes normal again. While this is happening I don't notice any problems in the ride quality. I'm not sure if it's the engine or an electrical problem. Anyone have any suggestions or know what the problem could be?

Why don't you go to Autozone and get your codes pulled to find out what codes your car threw?

It might also be the wheel speed sensors. If one of these goes out, the ABS and VSC systems will be non functional. Hopefully for your sake its a speed sensor. It much cheaper than the master cylinder!!

Take it to Auto Zone for the free reading. Last time, my car brake pads were just installed inside out. Thata all. There can be many problems. But at least the warnings turn off. Thats a good sign relative for the warning lights to staying on indefinitely.

I'm getting a bit scared now. I thought this was a minor problem. I did bring it over to Autozone and it didn't throw off any error codes plugging in that weird device under the dash. If it is the Master Cylinder... anyone know how I can get it fixed for cheaper?

also, are you sure your car didnt throw any codes? thats very strange, for when those lights go off, its usually a standard indication that you're throwing something off and the code will tell you whats wrong and what to fix.
