Thumbs down Don't let the Lexus dealer do this!!

OK, many of you probably already know this, but for those who don't...
While having my GS serviced recently (with my own oil & filter of course) the service advisor told me the A/C filter was filthy and needed to be replaced for....$89.00
I politely declined and when I got home, removed the filter myself (took about 15 seconds max) and ordered a new one from irontoad.com for $24.00 plus about $5 shipping. Arrived in three days and took another 30 seconds or so to install. Factory Toyota part too-not some cheap knock-off!
$89.00 ! -What a ripoff...

What? Dealerships ripping off customers with prices that are almost in orbit? Whoda thunk it!

I used to get hit up for the AC filter all the time. Now I just replaced mine with the blitz hybrid filter so we will see what they say when I take it back. I actually didnt need to replace it because it wasnt that dirty,

Better option: get the Blitz washable filter and never buy one again.

Edit: beaten like a British ward (by accompanying nanny)...but I have a picture and a link.

Yeah, pretty shocking huh? I just thought this was amazing considering how easy it was to do and how cheap the part is. Actually $24 seems a bit steep considering what it actually is.
I like the idea of the Blitz washable filter...
BTW, my filter was absolutely FILTHY! It had to be the original one (my car has 47k on it).

Is this the one in the glovebox or where is it?

I subscribe to the basic things that make our system of government and economy work; Free Enterprise. Everyone needs to make a profit. The problem arises when you have an entity that insists on making obscene profits. Did anyone say "gas prices?"

Dealerships and those inflated prices When I first got my car, I went to the local dealership to get a quote to replace one of my fog lights which was cracked...they wanted something in the range of $400 as I recall!!! I got one off of ebay for about $30.

Way to be resourceful FutureGS400

For those of you who've never changed your cabin air filter, you may want to consider it...

I changed mine in 2005 for probably the first time since the car was bought in 1999. Man, so much dirt, crap, s*** was in that thing i was disgusted. Ordered a cabin filter for about $20 and did the job myself.
