Default what kind of tape to use?

i think some other people have had this problem in the past, and i'm sure you guys can point me in the right direction. i got an l-sportline roof spoiler recently, but now the ends are starting to come up. the double-sided tape the shop used isn't holding that well. any recommendations on the proper tape to use? thanks all

go to a hardware store and ask for "mounting tape" not double sided tape...mounting tape can hold up to 5 lbs of weight...good luck!

If CQD_GS4 is talking about the same stuff as I am. Its made by 3M and its a roll of double sided mounting tape. It has a red layer of peel away plastic. The tape itself is grey. It holds about 5lbs per inch or so.

Thats what I thought you guys were talking about, but isnt that stuff a bit thick? It's not horrible, but its still 1/16inch thick or so. It is a noticible gap if you look at it.

not really, when used on stuff like cars i think they are thin enough to be not noticeable

Super glue. When I have a problem, I always superglue or Duct tape . but in this case, super glue.

super glue to glue the roof spoiler to the rear window (or in other cases the roof)? not sure if that's a good idea

Yes, its a very bad idea...lol. The superglue will most likely eat thru the paint layers to bond, thus if you ever try to remove the spoiler, the roof will need to be repainted. Second of all, if you plan on using it anyway, make sure to mask off all the areas since superglue has this white gunk it deposits around where it dries. If you really want to go with the glue route, your best bet is to use epoxy. Epoxy will be pretty much permanent mounting since it bonds stronger than superglue. With epoxy there is no gap at all and none of the residue of superglue. Epoxy is also much more shock resistant than superglue. I think the best option is probably to use the mounting tape. Since rominl said its not so noticible. The tape route will allow the spoiler to be removed later on without damage to the roof.

superglue would probably rip off the paint... don't do it. what if for some odd reason you'll need to remove the piece and you can't cuz their superglued together?

That 3M stuff is pretty thin. I've used it on emblems and they look like they sit flush with the surface.
