Default Fair price for 03' GS300? $18,900

EDIT: New car found 2003 GS300 White on BLACK interior!!! $17,500. 96k miles.

Holy cow, this is my dream combo! I think I'm going to fly up there next week and drive the car back. Going to take my new set of Tein Flex's with me and I'm going to install it on the spot right after I buy the car. Should be some fun carving the mountains with a good suspension
I'm going to have a friend come with me so we can split up the drive. 1600 mile drive should take about 20 hours or less on my "average" speed

Below the line was the previous car. No longer going with that one.
-----------------------------------------
I found a GS300 on autotrader. Silver on black. 2003 with 91K miles. The carfax record is clean, but It is listed as a fleet vehicle. So does that mean it was a rental car or what? I can't think of any other way that a car can get 91k miles in only 3years.

Either way, I don't really care if it was a rental or not. The reason I'm interested in getting another GS is to do some serious engine modding. Most likely an engine swap to the 2JZ-GTE VVTi so whatever condition the drivetrain is in doesn't matter much to me. As long as the car was never wrecked before and paint is still in good condition. Even if it was never washed and neglected(no wax), the paint should still be in good condition since it is a 03'.

My current GS is a 2005 has 10K miles on it and is still under warranty. I'm not quite willing to give that up just yet. I will be keeping both cars, so I will still have one GS to drive around while I get a new engine dropped into the other GS.

It has Navigation, no HID(i'm going to retro my own), and most of all black interior. So does 19K sound about right for that car or is it a bit high?

fleet cars are usually bought out by business (like rental or airport taxi or whatever).

Since it's going to be a project car, and you're going to swap out the engine anyways, why not get an older 98-99?

That was the other option. This 03' seemed like a decent deal so thats why I considered it. I want the project car for 2-3 years until the warranty on the current car is up then I will sell the project car. After that I will do the same swap to my current white GS.

The other thing is that I want to swap a black interior into my current car before I sell the project car. If a 98-00 interior will bolt in directly, then using the older car will be a viable option. Also, the older ones don't have the e-shift wheel. I would also upgrade tons of stuff to make it look like a 01+ that is going to cost about 1-1.5k or so to do.

Updated with pix of the car I'm 80% sure I'm going to buy. Unless I see a same white/black combo closer to where I am.

White on black is a killer combo! The price (17,500) isn't too bad. If you can maybe get it 16K or 17K out the door, that would be a good deal IMO.

I'll never understand these pricing discussions here. Half the people think its high, the other half think it's an OK deal. No matter what the price someone always says "looks high to me".

A quick spin through Nadaguides.com reveals this...

2003 GS300
Average Trade-In Average Retail
Base Price
$24,650 $28,425
Mileage
91,000 miles -$3,100 -$3,100
Options
Navigation System (Std. SC) $650 $725
Power Sunroof (Std. ES, GS) $625 $700
TOTAL PRICE $22,825 $26,750*

So getting this car for $4k under trade in "a so-so deal"? WTF? Why do we consistantly try and devalue the cars that we own? Me personally, I want this thing to stay as high up on the resale value as possible. Sure you may have seen a better deal on ebay, but a well researched, clean accident free car and properly disclosed?
Lets take some pride in our own and not give way the farm for free.

BTW, Cars.com, Edmunds, and KBB were all about the same for price, and I used Dallas regionals to calculate it.

To me, this sounds like a great car. All that fleet description means is that it was leased.

^^ agreed, which is why I never complained about how much I paid. Sure other people can get lower mileage for less and such, but they dont understand how hard it is to come across a blk/blk that the previous owner took VERY well care of the car, at least in SOCAL.

looks great for the mileage and condition. Go for it! You might be even haggle since it looks to be like a small dealership.

i love that color combo also. I wish mine was white/blk. When I was helping my girlfriend find an IS300...we searched a while for white/black combo. We finally found one in California and they shipped it to us in TX.

btw: we have a complete jdm aristo front clip w/ 2jzgte for sale if interested.

If you like it and it checks out from a mechanic go for it. The black interior looks good with the white. I still like the peanut butter look in my Crystal White. I say go for after some haggling.
