Question HKS cam gear ( question)!

I am thinking of installing a HKS cam gear but has anyone installed one of these into a gs300? Did you notice a difference in your powerband? is it worth installing?

thanks

I have a HKS adjustable cam gear. Before purchasing and having it installed & dyno tuned, I did some research first. Bottom line is that you won't see or feel a big improvement with it on a non-forced induction car. The cam gear comes to life when you combine it with a turbo or supercharged motor. With that said, the most I ever saw on several dyno sheets was 5-6rwhp. That was on a stock motor with simple bolt ons. My car saw 9rwhp with my supercharged setup. Currently I'm at 4 deg. retard...which is like 2 notches on the cam gear.

The problem with the cam gear is that the cost to install and dyno tuned it is not worth the 5-6hp you get from it.

I think a lot of people just get the cam gears for looks, of course not all people. If they take off the timing bet cover, a blue or red billet gear looks much nicer than a unpainted factory unit. As for performance, you gain a percentage....say 3-5%. Say for our cars 220hp, a properly tuned cam gear will increase it to 226hp. Now if you were to drop this on a high boost supra with 700hp, then it would increase up to 735hp (theoretically). It also shifts the powerband. My friend has cams on his DSM. The car is a hog at low rpm's, but once the revs get up there the thing flies.

I saw that CF engine cover on some website, don't remember which. However that L cut into it is custom. Probably LXOGOOD had access to a CNC machine or something.
